Job Description
The Legal Officer is responsible for providing legal advice and support to the organization, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, drafting and reviewing legal documents, managing legal risks, and representing the organization in legal matters when required. The role also supports contract management and promotes compliance with company policies and legal standards.
Key Responsibilities
Provide legal advice and guidance to management on legal and regulatory matters.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
Ensure the organization's compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
Conduct legal research and provide legal opinions on various matters.
Monitor changes in legislation and advise management on their impact.
Manage legal documentation and maintain accurate legal records.
Liaise with external legal counsel, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders when required.
Assist in handling disputes, claims, and litigation involving the organization.
Support the development and implementation of legal policies and compliance programs.
Prepare legal reports and recommendations for management.
Protect the organization's legal interests and minimize legal risks.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B.) from a recognized institution.
Admission to the Bar and a valid practicing certificate is an added advantage, where applicable.
Previous experience in a legal or compliance role is an added advantage.
Knowledge of corporate, commercial, labor, and contract law.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
